NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace
One in four adults in the UK will experience a diagnosable mental health condition. This means that you are likely to know somebody with a mental health difficulty, whether this is a family member, friend or colleague at work. Indeed, the workplace or working conditions are known to cause or contribute to many cases of mental ill health. One report suggests that over 12 million working days were lost due to work-related anxiety, depression and stress. Recognising the warning signs that a person may be struggling with their mental health and knowing how to respond are vitally important.
This is why first aid for mental health is an increasingly popular way of training staff and volunteers in mental health awareness. Mental health first aid is about providing initial care and support to someone experiencing mental distress and signposting them to the right sort of professional support. Sometimes, this may be an emergency situation (a mental health crisis) and a timely response could be critical.
The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace comprises the following units:
Unit 1: Exploring mental health
Unit 2: Understand how to support individuals with mental ill health
Unit 3: Understand a mentally healthy environment
